It is comforting to be in the dark

 

Hidden away from the glances

 

that seem ready to pounce on you

 

The hypocrisy, the hidden agendas

 

The mad rush to control and possess

 

And spirit crushed under the weight of it all.

 

Until the time comes

 

when the call cannot be ignored any more

 

To summon the courage to step into the light.

 

And slowly you come to realize

 

How fractured the others are too

 

Craving for acceptance

 

For love

 

For mere acknowledgement.

 

And life begins anew

 

New sprouts are born

 

in the comforting shade of your presence.

 

Now you know

 

Why you had to grow through the pain

 

Find your way out through the fire

 

Silently, finding resources within alone

 

So that one day

 

You will know how to use yourself

 

So that others may live again.
