A Woman's Plea
27.08.2024 | Bhaswati Roy
I'll tread softly, watch my back,
Afraid of every shadow's attack.
I'll cover up, hide my light,
To avoid the lurking night.
But can you promise, I'll be safe?
That fear won't steal my life?
That I won't be a statistic,
A victim of a tragicistic?
I'm tired of tiptoeing, of constant dread,
Of hiding my light, of feeling dead.
I'm tired of watching sisters fall,
Of being a prisoner in this patriarchal hall.
I yearn for a day, when I can roam,
Without fear of being alone.
When I can dress as I please,
Without the fear of being seized.
I demand a world where women are free,
To walk without fear, to simply be.
A world where our voices won't be hushed,
Where our dignity will never be crushed.
So, no more silence, no more shame.
We’ll break free from this cruel game.
Let’s rise, let’s fight, with all our might.
For a world that’s just and bright.
