Justice Echoes

18.11.2024 | Dr. Krithika

Most of us would have studied History about the rulers and their glories. But how often do we understand the pain and suffering of the ordinary people that remains intertwined with the kings' success stories? This poem helps us shift our attention to those overlooked prejudices and oppressive regimes, encouraging us to reflect empathetically.

In the annals of victorious men of war,
No path to pride but a journey that reveals more,
Understanding the pain and prejudice they sow,
Punishing the innocent as amoral authorities grow.

They wield control over lives so dear,
Continuing bloodshed, extinguishing existence clear,
Once thriving civilizations, now cruelly cut,
Their tireless progress halted, leaving hearts in a rut.

Children caught in a ruthless political game,
Unwilling participants in a world of shame,
Penniless cries drowned by money's embrace,
As the powerful disregard their pitiful case.

There are supporters of regimes, it's true,
Terrifying individuals to submission they pursue,
Surrendering to power, greed, and desire,
Selling their souls to the highest buyer.

But fear not the dark, for the revolt draws near,
History's lesson, justice's voice, will persevere,
A movement rising, millions protesting,
Against the powerful, demanding fairness at its best.

A collective surge of compassion's embrace,
Where equality and integrity find their place,
In the face of oppression, hope's flame will ignite,
For a better tomorrow, shining ever so bright.
